O quam mirabilis est

SATB unaccompanied    (c. 3:20)

St. Hildegard’s ancient mystical text is set in a Renaissance motet style and is not difficult to perform, while giving the words all the seriousness and sacredness they deserve.

“O how miraculous is the foreknowledge of the divine heart, which foretold all of creation.
For when God looked upon the face of the human, whom he had formed, all of his works he saw whole in that humanity reflected.
O how miraculous is that breath with which he roused humanity to life. Amen.”
